Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Muscle and Joint problems)

With 28 years experience working in a musculoskeletal out-patient therapy department, I can provide expert advice and treatment and exercise programmes to help you return to full ability at home, work or with leisure activities. At Romiley Physio, I offer a full assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan aiming to return you to full function whether you are recovering from an operation, injury or long term condition.  I always give a full explanation of my findings and discuss the best way forward for you to achieve your goals, whether it be managing day to day tasks or helping you return to sport or hobbies.

I combine soft tissue techniques (including myofascial and trigger point release) and manual therapy techniques using taping and acupuncture to reduce pain, increase joint movement and tissue length and stimulate certain muscles.  I also teach specific stretches, strengthening and core stability exercises, enabling patients to reach full functional ability so they can return to work and/or sport and hobbies.

Acupuncture

I use acupuncture for pain relief and to restore tissues to their former state as an adjunct to my treatment of joint and soft tissue manual therapy and exercise therapy.  I am a member of the AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) and am required to carry out continued professional development annually to maintain and update my skills and knowledge.

AACP physiotherapists combine the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) principles with scientific evidence to reduce pain and promote healing in combination with other therapies.
